He might come back. Still, I think he had been sad about something to do with his daughter, and keeping the Rookery must have brought him peace.

I'll need the attic for my quarters, so that I can do my schoolwork there. I expect I'll need your help with moving our things. We'll both need to look after the children. I shouldn't have liked to do this without you, but I don't mind it now that you're with me.
